Motivation and Back Story:
Plagued with a rare heart disease from birth, Mona defied statistics and miraculously survived six open-heart surgeries and two heart transplants by the age of seven. Now a healthy age of 26, which she never thought she’d reach, doctors are quick to accredit modern medicine, meds and surgical prowess, but little do they know Mona began tossing most of her pills in the trash long ago because she believed in something beyond the pharmaceutical path; a force much larger then herself, more mysterious and rich in history. Since her last transplant, she has practiced the Afro-Brazilian faith of Candomblé, “Dance in the Honor of the Gods”, paying homage to the God Oludumaré, the Eternal Ruler of the Heavens and Earth and discovered that her dancing is what actually keeps her alive. So every day at sunset she gives praise and offers her birth-given gift as tribute, in her most meaningful, soulful way, with palpable connection and passion – she dances,… to live another day.
$325 total, which includes a 2-3 rehearsals, and one full shoot day. Plus copy, credit, meal.
You can also find casting notices currently on LA Casting, Now Casting, Actors Access, IMDBpro and Craigslist under the title Candomblé.
Please include any applicable video reel/clip links in your submission. Ballet and Latin dance only... no hip hop, cabaret, polka, River Dancing etc. Only applicable submission will be considered.
