Daniil Simkin's Intensio project will have its premiere on July 22. The project features choreography by Alexander Ekman, Gregory Dolbashian, Jorma Elo, and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and dancers from American Ballet Theatre—along with Céline Cassone of Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal. You can read more about the project in Pointe's June/July Callboard story.
There's only one thing better than a ballet nerd fully embracing his white tights stereotypes: A ballet nerd doing so while being directed and filmed by contemporary cool kid Alexander Ekman. Take a look at this cheeky film of ABT's adorably dorky Daniil Simkin dancing and bowing his way through New York City to Lincoln Center.
Ever wonder what the world would look like through the eyes of a ballet superstar? Pointe's editorial advisor, Kate Lydon, gave us a heads up yesterday about Daniil Simkin's amazing Instagram feed. The ABT soloist, who constantly travels the world, has a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes snapshots of ballet's best dancers, as well as images that simply capture his unique perspective on architecture, commuters, city life. They're beautiful and fascinating and delightfully stalkerish.
