With Quiet Strength, Mikaela Santos Flourishes at Atlanta Ballet

by Cynthia Bond Perry | May 1, 2024

Mikaela Santos and Sergio Masero dance a pas de deux in the ballet Don Quixote. Masero lunges on his left leg, extending his right leg out slightly, and balances Santos on his left thigh as she lays across him in a fish dive, hooking her right leg around his waist and holding her upper back up. Both dancers extend their arms out triumphantly and looks towards the audience with large smiles. Santos wears a bright red, Spanish style dress and pointe shoes while Masero wears burgundy tights and shoes, a gold and burgundy vest and a white shirt. Behind them, dancers dressed as villagers watch and react happily.
