Use Your Summer To Branch Out

November 28, 2001

Want to work on your versatility this summer? There’s a new intensive you should check out: Modas Dance, run by former LINES Ballet school director Layla Amis and former San Francisco Ballet and Dance Theatre of Harlem dancer Duncan Cooper. The two regularly set up weekend workshops in studios throughout the country, and just launched their summer program last year. Their faculty members include the likes of Ashley Tuttle, Tai Jimenez and LINES ballet master Arturo Fernandez. But what makes this program stand out is that in addition to top-notch ballet training, it also offers really good hip hop, really good Horton, Dunham, tap, improvisation, and other styles. The multi-faceted approach is designed to create a truly well-rounded dancer—one who’s competitive in today’s dance marketplace.

The 2013 program will take place at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque from July 8 to August 3. Auditions are already going on now so go to modasdance.com to find dates at a studio near you or information on how to submit an audition video.
