Call For Choreographers

November 28, 2001

Northwest Dance Project is looking for two emerging choreographers to bring to Portland, OR for their third annual “Pretty Creatives” project. NWDP artistic director Sarah Slipper seeks to develop new voices in dance by offering an open forum for young dancemakers to create and develop new material. Previous winners include Maurice Causey, formerly of Nederlands Dans Theater, Lauren Edson of Trey McIntyre Project, Lori Landon, formerly of Ballet Munich and James Gregg of BJM Danse. During a six-day residency from July 18–23, the choreographers will work with dancers for three hours a day, culminating in an informal presentation to the public. Creative honorarium, per diem, accommodation and travel are included for the selected choreographers.
