Kevin Thomas’ The Cotillion, for Collage Dance, Honors a Black Coming-of-Age Tradition

In a large ballet studio, a group of dancers pose in a tableau. Six pairs of partners stand in supported arabesques in two mirrored diagonals, three dancers stand in tendu behind them, and two partners pose in shoulder sits in between. In front, a last pair does a fish pose. The women wear long white skirts.
