Nutcracker and Beyond: Favorite Children’s Roles in Ballet

by Sarah McKenna Barry | Dec 14, 2023

During a performance of The Nutcracker, a young girl dancer stands center stage and holds up a nutcracker doll, surrounded by other child dancers. She wears a silver Victorian style dress with a long, full skirt, short puffed sleeves, and pink trimmings along the skirt, sleeves and waist. The girls surrounding her also wear long dresses in various colors, and the boys wear pants and buttoned jackets in different shades of brown. Behind them, adults in period costume mingle during the in front of a large Christmas tree.
