Miami City Ballet Actively Recruits Students From Latin America

November 28, 2001

It’s rare for a U.S.-based ballet school to recruit from Latin America, but Miami City Ballet is setting a new precedent. In November, MCB School will conduct its International Master Class Tour, which can function as a MCB summer intensive audition for interested students. The tour will make multiple stops in Brazil, including Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Vitoria.

Notably, the tour will stop in Medellin, Columbia—the first time an American ballet school has visited the country. Considering Miami’s close cultural ties with Latin America, the company’s audition tour is a great way to build connections across borders.
