–The 2008 Choo-San Goh Awards for Choreography were given to Mikelle Bruzina to create a new piece for Louisville Ballet and Edwaard Liang to choreograph on The Washington Ballet.
–Diana Vishneva was nominated for Russia’s prestigious Golden Mask Award as “Best Ballerina.” Her touring performance, Diana Vishneva: Beauty in Motion, was also nominated as Best Ballet Event of the Season. The award ceremony will take place on April 18.
–Rasta Thomas received the Gotham Visionary Award at the Greenhouse in New York City on January 7.
–Former NYCB prima ballerina Violette Verdy was named a Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur in December.
