The Joffrey Ballet is Live-Streaming a Rehearsal of "Swan Lake"

November 28, 2001

On Thursday, August 21, the Joffrey Ballet will live-stream a rehearsal of Christopher Wheeldon’s Swan Lake. Wheeldon will be in attendance to coach the dancers, while Joffrey artistic director Ashley Wheater will host and conduct interviews with the dancers during rehearsal breaks.

Live-streaming has become increasingly popular in the last few years—companies like the Royal Ballet and the Bolshoi regularly schedule “dance in cinema” seasons, where live performances are streamed to movie theaters around the U.S. The Royal has an especially active YouTube channel, and often provides footage of rehearsals.

It’s always interesting to see how dancers respond to corrections, and it’s especially amazing to see dancers’ bodies transform as they try to do things a new or different way. Find the live-stream on the Joffrey’s Youtube channel, from 11:30-3pm Central Standard Time.
