BalletNow, a new gala performance at The Music Center in Los Angeles, aims to change the ballet scene in L.A. during its premiere on July 10.

The program, under artistic directors (and American Ballet Theatre principals) Herman Cornejo and Roberto Bolle, features a unique three-day structure: One evening of dancers from Europe, selected by Bolle; another of dancers from Latin America, selected by Cornejo; and a final evening combining the two programs. Thanks to their backgrounds, Bolle and Cornejo can network with stars that American audiences might not usually see.

“Some artists, like Paloma Herrera, are well-known to L.A. audiences,” says Renae Williams Niles, the vice president of programming at The Music Center. “But others, like Bayerisches Staatsballett principal Lucia Lacarra, are new to the city—or even to Southern California. We are thrilled to present them.”
