Save the Date: The School at Steps Pointe Shoe Workshop

February 4, 2015

If you wear pointe shoes, you know how integral it is to have the perfect fit. If not, they can quickly turn into instruments of torture. But let’s face it—finding the right shoe can be a bit of a mystery. That’s why The School at Steps, a division of Steps on Broadway in New York City, is hosting a Pointe Shoe Workshop and Fair as part of its Complete Dancer Series this Sunday. Join me and a panel of experts—including podiatrist Dr. John Brummer, pointe shoe fitter Mary Carpenter, master teacher Leslie Browne and American Ballet Theatre’s one and only Misty Copeland—for an in-depth discussion on proper fitting, maintenance and foot care.

Afterward, pointe shoe specialists from Capezio, Chacott by Freed of London, Gaynor Minden and Grishko will be on hand to answer questions, help with fittings and show off their latest styles. So if you’re in the New York City area, stop by The School at Steps this Sunday, February 8 at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $10 (groups discounts are available) and can be purchased here. Space is limited, so advance purchase is encouraged.
