Get Ready: World Ballet Day 2021 Is on October 19!

Mark your calendars! World Ballet Day — the free livestream bonanza featuring ballet companies from across the globe — is scheduled for Tuesday, October 19. This year’s event, hosted by The Australian Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet and The Royal Ballet, will take viewers into the studios of over 50 dance organizations across six continents. The livestreams offer rare access to company classes, rehearsals, interviews with star dancers and more. And while, as usual, you can tune in to each participating companies’ YouTube and Facebook channels, this year you can also catch exclusive footage on TikTok. (Tip: WBD ‘s website offers links to every company’s YouTube channel to help make viewing more centralized.)

You can also try for a chance to be featured during WBD by participating in the Jump for Joy challenge. All you need to do is share a video of yourself performing your favorite celebratory dance move on social media, using the hashtag #WorldBalletDay. No dance experience is necessary—as Royal Ballet principal Marcelino Sambé explains below, anyone can participate.

The 24-hour livestream kicks off with The Australian Ballet at 12 pm AEDT—in North America, that’s 10 pm EST/7 pm PST on October 18. The lineup of participating companies and their respective streaming schedules is being continually updated, although the list below is what WBD has announced so far.
