The Next Stage

November 28, 2001

No matter how beautiful they are, every dancer eventually takes a final bow. But what happens once they’ve given up performing?

The Guggenheim’s Works & Process series presents “On To Act II” on May 1 and 2 at 7:30 pm, speaking to former American Ballet Theatre dancers. The panel includes ABT alumni Wes Champan (now ABT II’s director), Rachel Moore (now ABT’s executive director), Susan Jaffe (now an ABT ballet mistress), Jose Manuel Carreño (who’s retiring after this season), Frederic Franklin (now a master stager) and Pointe‘s very own editorial advisor (and Dance Spirit‘s editor in chief) Kate Lydon. See what each of these great artists has to say about their post-performing life.

Current ABT dancers will also perform excerpts from the upcoming Met season, and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis students will work with Kate. The show itself is sold out, but you can watch the live stream online at ustream.tv.channel/worksandprocess. You can also chat with other viewers about it on Twitter by following @WorksandProcess and #ABT.
