Use Winter Weather to Your Advantage
You’re probably not too excited when you look out your studio’s window and see dreary, grey weather (especially if you’ve been affected by this season’s blizzards). But it may be a good opportunity to improve your dancing.
A recent study published in the Journal of Applied Psychology found that bank workers were more focused and motivated on days when the weather was bad, boosting their productivity. The idea is that when the weather is sunny and pleasant, you’re more likely to get distracted by your desire to be outside enjoying it. Try using a rainy day to tackle tasks that you might be tempted to put off otherwise: Work through a daunting section of choreography in the studio, or practice those tricky turns you’ve been trying to polish. It could wind up being your most productive day of the week.
