#TBT: Lucia Lacarra and Cyril Pierre in the White Swan Pas de Deux
Lucia Lacarra
, formerly a principal with Bavarian State Ballet (Bayerisches Staatsballett), has such extreme flexibility that she almost looks like a rhythmic gymnast. It takes a true artist to tame such a facility and deliver an emotionally memorable performance. The Spanish ballerina never fails to do so.

Take a look at Lacarra with partner (and former husband) Cyril Pierre in Swan Lake‘s White Swan pas de deux and variation from a 2005 film clip. I can practically feel my heart shiver when she folds a delicate wing-like arm or even just closes those exquisite feet into fifth.
Lacarra began her professional career in Spain, then joined Roland Petit’s Marseille-based company. She and Pierre danced together as principals at San Francisco Ballet before Lacarra moved to Germany in 2002. Pierre is now a renowned master teacher, and she’s an international guest artist, often appearing with current husband Marlon Dino. Let’s hope that the couple’s next move brings them State-side.
