Your Summer Intensive Audition Day Checklist

January 15, 2026

If you’re headed to summer intensive auditions in the coming weekends, you’ll want to be prepared. To make sure you don’t forget anything, we’ve put together a common-sense checklist. That said, be sure to consult school websites for specific instructions, registration information, and dress code requirements. Keep in mind that some programs require advance online registration and may not accept walk-ins.

Essentials

  • If you haven’t already registered: Proof of age, identification, fees, audition photos, and any other requested application materials
  • Black or solid-color leotard with pink or skin-tone tights; or white or solid-color fitted T-shirt, black or gray tights, socks
  • Ballet slippers that match tights or socks
  • Pointe shoes and accessories (toe pads, spacers), if applicable
  • Water bottle

Dance Bag Extras (Kept Out of the Way or Outside of the Studio)

  • Pre-class warm-ups
  • An extra pair of tights in case of snags. Consider a fresh leotard/T-shirt, too, if auditioning for multiple programs in one day.
  • Small kit for foot care/first-aid
  • Sewing kit (thread, small scissors, safety pins)
  • Healthy snacks and electrolyte packets, especially if doing multiple auditions in one day
  • Pen, in case you need to fill out an application or write information down
  • Extra bobby pins, hair ties, hairnets
  • Travel-sized hair spray and/or gel
  • Deodorant
  • Feminine hygiene products (just in case!)

Leave at Home

  • Smartwatches or other wearable tech devices that might be distracting
  • Jewelry
  • Large or ornate hair accessories
  • Heavy perfume or cologne

And don’t forget to silence or turn off your phone.

Merde for your audition!
